Next 19th of february Los Morancos returns to Benidorm Palace with a all their humor and art.

The brothers Jorge and Cesar are in the world of art for over twenty years and since then have not stopped doing galas and performances nationwide, delivering laughs and good times. Now land on the Benidorm Palace with Laugh Therapy (Risoterapia).

In times of crisis ... the laughs are good. And this method is applied by The Morancos in his new show. The Morancos are specialists in making you laugh and gives you a good time. With Risoterapia two doctors play, one of the Social Security affected by the cuts and the other has a private clinic and things are going well for him.

A topical issue, the health cuts, seen from a humorous approach that aims to bring the viewer for a while in a state of "no concern" and relaxation, for laughing and relaxing.

The Low Cost confirms seven new bands such as La Casa Azul and

The IV Low Cost festival in Benidorm, to be held from the 27th to the 29th of July, has confirmed seven new national bands, including Supersubmarina and La Casa Azul.

The organisers of the Low Cost Festival have reported that, as well as the groups La Casa Azul and Supersubmarina others have also confirmed their participation in the fourth edition of the festival, The Right Ons, The New Raemon, Fuel Fandango, Varry Bigott and Brava.

These groups are in addition to those that have already been announced, names such as Ivan Ferreiro, The Swing Murderer, We Are Standard, The Red Room, The Zombie Kids, Bizarre Love Triangle and Second.

In the near future "the first international group names" will be announced. The fourth edition of the Low Cost Festival was presented last week during the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (FITUR).

The festival will take place in the muncipal stadium Guillermo Amor, where it was held last year and was a great success both with the public and critics alike.

Over 2,000 tickets have already been sold for the three days of the festival. During the "limited time" period the price will be maintained at 39.99 euros.

Benidorm stand receives "Special Mention" award in the International Tourism Fair of

The Benidorm stand at the 32nd edition of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR in Madrid, designed by the head of the town hall Design department, Alejandro Guijarro, was honoured today by the trade fair organising committee with a 'Special Mention' award.

As mentioned by the jury, Benidorm "reuses the irony, as it did two years ago, through the use of a symbolic architecture of the national beach tourism is the "mat", reaching a credible definition of a space that transforms the story in a visual and constructive opportunity".

Similarly, the jury reflects a different stand, striking with a strong brand image, which produces a fun identification of the exposed material and the construction of the stand.

The designer of the stand, Alejandro Guijarro, has collected this certification from the hands of the coordinator of the Architecture department of the Camilo Jose Cela University, Fernando Jerez, who was accompanied by the director of Fitur, Ana Larrañaga, and the jury president, Joseph Manuel Maciñeiras.

The exhibition space,of 135 square metres,ceded free of charge to the town of Benidorm by the Valencian Agency of Tourism, includes a structure built with typical Alicante blinds, "a common and easily recognisable product that builds a volumetric concept whose use is unusual and impacts, " said Guijarro.

A simple display, in principle, however has produced an important visual impact of the thousands of professionals and the general public attending FITUR. The creator of the stand has stressed that in a trade show of its kind "must stand out with a powerful design to be in the spotlight. In an event swamped with different statements and messages, it is imperative to stand out for a differentiated promotional effect. " Finally, the design of the stand has been recognised and, therefore, the work of town hall Design department.

The stand has an area for business meetings with meeting tables, subdivided with their own blinds, storage areas and a bar staffed by by the Touristic Development Centre (CDT) Domingo Devesa of Benidorm. The customer service desk has a perimeter of 30 metres and is divided into different sections for institutions and companies involved.

The furniture, tables and chairs, which have been used in the stand are simple and with the same effect of the wooden slats, which use the same colour as the blinds that make up the stand, while the stools also compliment. As regards lighting, 140 60w bulbs have been used, giving a light performance of 360º.

Benidorm Low Cost Festival presents its fourth edition at Fitur

The Benidorm Low Cost Festival was presented at Fitur with the aim of attracting more than 60.000 young people during the three days of Festival.

This year, in addition to extending the event to three days, the capacity will also increase from 15,000 to 20,000 spectators at the Ciudad Deportiva "Guillermo Amor", where 60,000 young people will be welcomed on the 27th, 28th and 29th of July.

Nearly 45,000 people attended the Low Cost Festival in 2011 for a 3 day programme of music and thanks to strong investment by the organisation for technical and logistical resources, this has been one of the festivals to receive the best reviews from the media and the public for comfort, facilities, programming and sound.

Moreover, in 2012 the Low Cost Benidorm Festival will be treated as a festival of environmental awareness, joining progressive alternatives to encourage savings in CO2 emissions and the recycling of plastics and other materials using other biodegradables. Other actions are being carried out, design of ecological exchange, creation of green brigades selective recycling, collaboration with car-sharing platforms and reducing by 70% printed materials ceding to the new technologies for divulging and communicating information.

Low Cost Benidorm Festival has increased its media coverage by almost 40%, being one of the festivals with more media impact on national territory. Economic valuation in 2010 exceeded half a million euros, while this assessment in 2011 exceeded 2 million. More than 350 journalists went to Benidorm to cover the Low Cost festival contents.

Low Cost Benidorm Festival takes place on 27th, 28th and 29th of july, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and will also give the chance for those attending to have time to enjoy all the other things that Benidorm offers if they extend their stay.

The dynamics of this year remains the same, as in previous years, and after announcing seven national bands, the Benidorm Low Cost festival will begin in the next few days to reveal its first international names and other activities.

Terra Mítica Benidorm opens its doors

New shows and exciting rides are on offer at Terra Mítica. This leisure park in Benidorm opens its doors on 16th April with a whole host of interesting new attractions.

The expanse of vegetation has tripled and a 4,500 m2 natural roof has been constructed to offer shade and rest, with a fog system which creates a pleasant microclimate.

In addition, there will be more staff on hand and the number of seats available has been increased, so visitors should not have to wait any longer than 10 minutes to go on a ride. There are also three new rides for children, and the existing attractions have been meticulously inspected and overhauled.

The entertainment area has also been completely reformed. There will be four new shows and the programme has been extended; thirty performances a day with one performance every fifteen minutes.

Furthermore, the park will be open 170 days a year, representing an increase of 20% on the previous season. Opening hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., but will be extended to 10 p.m. on 21st, 22nd and 23rd April and until midnight from 15th July until 4th September.

Mediterranean Miniatures Fair in Benidorm

This weekend, on 16th and 17th April, the Hotel Don Pancho in Benidorm will be hosting the Mediterranean Miniatures Fair. Artisans from the different provinces of Spain will be presenting their tiny works of art with a view to turning this exhibition into part of the cultural offer available in this city on the Costa Blanca coastline.

The fair aims to bring the curiosities of the fantastic hobby of making dollhouses to both visitors and locals alike. Every year, it brings together miniaturist artisans, some renowned and others just starting out, who will delight members of the public with their works of art; pieces that are essential to bring dollhouses to life or which offer the inspiration required to create new scenes and projects.

During the fair, you can talk directly to the artisans, ask any questions you might have and understand more about their pieces, how they are made and how to adapt them to your projects.

The 200 mile A2 Regatta is setting sail from Altea

On 4th March, the craft taking part in the 200 mile A2 Race will be setting sail from Altea. This is a 0 level Cruiser competition included on the Valencian Regional Sailing Federation's (FVCV) race calendar, which earns the participants points for the Spanish A2 Championship for RI cruisers. The XXV edition of this competition will be taking place in Mediterranean waters, specifically between Altea, Ibiza and Formentera, until 6th March.

For the first time, Mini 6.50 class craft will be taking part in the 200 Mile A2 race, organised every year by the Altea Sailing Club. The inclusion of these transoceanic boats will coincide on this occasion with the celebration of its XXV anniversary.

This race will be one of the main point-scoring competitions in the Spanish A2 Championship, RI Cruiser Class, and will also be the Spanish A2 Championship for the Mini 6.50 Class, so the winner of this second category will be proclaimed Spanish Champion 2011 in this class. Within the Mini class, there will be two sub-categories: one for Mini Series class and another for Mini Prototype class craft.

The participating boats will set off from the Altea Sailing Club heading towards Ibiza. The tough route followed by this regatta will test the technical and physical preparation of the two crew members on each boat. From there, the craft will sail around the island until they reach the strait of Los Freus around a buoy which they will pass on their starboard side in Savina de Formentera, before returning to Altea, their point of origin.

Musical February in Benidorm

Music lovers are in luck as Benidorm has put great effort into turning February into the indisputable month of music. So, if you happen to be in this wonderful city this week, you will be able to gain free entrance to the events organised by the teachers and students participating in the 23rd International Music Course at the Events Hall in Benidorm Town Hall, between 19th and 25th February.

On Sunday 20th February, teachers Claude Delangle (saxophone) and Víctor Monge Serranito (guitar) will be playing. The following day, you can see Lluís Claret (cello) and Igor Malinovsky (violin) and on Tuesday 22nd, the trombonists Juan Manuel Real and Juan Carlos Matamoros.
The concert to be held on 23rd February will be offered by students on the course, whilst on Thursday 24th the cello and violin final will take place and on Friday 25th the closing concert will be offered by trumpeter Radovan Vlatkovic.

The musical agenda for the month of February is rounded off with the celebration of the 2nd Fira de Música, which will be held on Friday 25th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Espai d'Art at Benidorm Town Hall. The Fira will exhibit musical instruments, scores and other elements related to the art of Lutherie.

El Castell de l’Olla is flooding Altea with light

Benidorn promotion in London

Benidorm has actively participated in the latest edition of 'A Taste of Spain 2010', held in Regent Street, London. Along with the brands of Valencia and Costa Blanca, Benidorm has been present in three different information points throughout this central London street, with a four square meters stand, from 12 to 19 hours. The stand has distributed promotional material as 'Leisure', 'Routes Sierra Helada', 'Hotels', and the tourist map of the city.

Beside each one of these promotional items were three giant paellas at 14, at 15:30 and at 17 hours. Each tent set up for the three paellas included Benidorm logo on the security fences.

Throughout the pre-event promotion several actions were made, which included mentions of Benidorm, as published in a special page on Spanish holiday destinations accused in the 'Daily Telegraph'.

Benidorm takes a step towards being declared a tourist municipality

The Spanish Senate on Wednesday gave the green light for a modification of local tax laws which will allow Benidorm to be considered as a tourist municipality.

The Partido Popular proposal was presented by Agustín Almodóbar from Benidorm who had 127 votes in support thanks to the CiU and some senators from the Mixed Group.

There were 120 votes against the idea from the PSOE, PNV and others, while the Canary island group abstained.

To be considered as a tourist municipality a town has to have more than 20,000 population, and the number of second residence or tourist homes has to be greater than that of main residence.

There are currently 21 localities in Spain with the tourist distinction which allows for greater flexibility in shop opening hours and other areas.

Benidorm has been calculated to represent 4% of the total tourism of Spain.

Benidorm Low Cost Festival

The Benidorm live concert scene will be enhanced this summer with an Indie music festival. Called the Low Cost Festival it will take place in the L'Aiguera park on Friday and Saturday, 23rd and 24th July.

It's hoped that the concert will be attractive to British visitors with the bulk of the Indie outfits, including headliners Placebo, being British based.

Tickets will cost 30 euros per day of the festival or a two-day ticket can be purchased for 45 euros.

Longer Promenade for Levante Beach

The coastal authorities have started work on extending the promenade running by Benidorm's Levante beach along its final stretch. The end of the beach in Rincon de Loix is a rocky, eroded area that gives quite a scruffy appearance that is out of keeping with the rest of Levante.

The land will be levelled to make it flat, the wall alongside will be repaired and a hundred metre length of promenade with handrails, benches and waste bins will make for a pleasant stroll on balmy summer evenings.

Benidorm to limit traffic access

A new pedestrian area will be established by July 1.
Benidorm is to limit traffic access to the historic town centre to just residents and the emergency services.

The Town Hall has decided to return to a project to pedestrianise the area of the Castle and the Calvari district, installing a system of number plate recognition cameras and traffic lights which will stop access for non-authorised vehicles.

The idea was first muted two years ago but now moves ahead, with July 1 the date by which it is hoped to be fully operational. Local Police will fine any vehicle which gains unauthorised access to the restricted area by ignoring the traffic lights.

Certain times will be allocated for loading and unloading vehicles to gain access, while tourists will be able to apply for permission in their countries of origin or once in Benidorm.

Benidorm Concerts 2010

One of Latin America's hottest acts is on her way to Benidorm and another is being lined up by the town council.

Paulina Rubio, a chica from down Mexico way will play a concert in Benidorm Bull Ring on Friday 7th May. It starts at 23.00 and will cost from 20 euros upwards and she'll be promoting her new album 'Gran City Pop.'

Also on the cards, with negotiations at an advanced stage, is a performance by Colombian hottie, Shakira. She'll be shaking what she's got in August or September sometime at a venue as yet to be decided.

Terra Mitica Opens

Tomorrow marks the first day of Terra Mitica's 10th season in Benidorm. To celebrate it's big One -oh anniversary it will be open for an extra 51 days this year. As you probably know it's normally open at weekends and fiestas in the off season and open every day in the height of summer. Our calendar shows all the details of the park's opening days in 2010.

Visitors will also get to see new 'personalities' entertaining the crowds in the park with a 'tenth anniversary' theme and there'll be anniversary souvenirs on sale as well!

High Speed Trains for Benidorm?

The proposed scheme to bring Spain's super fast AVE train from Madrid to Benidorm is gathering momentum. Politicians and officials met earlier this week to thrash out plans to put the station for the super train next to the tram stop at Terra Mitica. Here, it's close enough to the town centre without having to clear a way through the urban environment for new tracks to be laid.

Now the scheme must be approved by two different Government departments in Valencia and Madrid – and there is a 'good feeling' between the two – before finance can be approved and it given the go ahead.

If and when the AVE makes its trip from the capital to Benidorm, it will take a mere 2 hours to cover the long journey, making it more attractive than flying for those who want to go from city centre to city centre. And if you're on holiday in Benidorm, you could take a nice day trip to Madrid!

Benidorm - Bigger Beach for La Cala

Good news for visitors to La Cala at the western end of Benidorm's Poniente beach. Finestrat council, where La Cala is located, are at last able to demolish the Anfora building which has stood in ruins by the beach for years.

The building was started in the mid 60's and never finished. It actually stands on public coastal land and also blocks rights of way and has been an eyesore for all this time.

Now, after a long process of negotiation, the council have acquired the building and are going to demolish it. It all has to be done by hand for the first phase as the Anfora adjoins another building, after this the heavy machines will take over to finish the job.

Once it's gone the council would like to expand the beach making it more accessible for everyone.
